Abstract:
Stericallyencumberedbis(m-terphenyl)chalco-genides,(2,6-Mes2C6H3)2E (E=S, Se, Te) wereobtainedby thereactionof thechalcogentetrafluorides,EF4, withthreeequivalentsofm-terphenyllithium,2,6-Mes2C6H3Li. Thesingle-electronoxidationof (2,6-Mes2C6H3)2Te usingXeF2/K[B(C6F5)4] affordedtheradicalcation[(2,6-Mes2C6H3)2Te][B-(C6F5)4] thatwasisolatedandfullycharacterized.Theelectro-chemicaloxidationof the lighterhomologs(2,6-Mes2C6H3)2E(E=S, Se) wasirreversibleandimpairedby rapiddecom-position
