2-[2-(Dimethylamino)vinyl]-6-pentafluorophenyl-4-phenylpyrylium perchlorate has been synthesized and it was shown that it is readily converted into 2-formylmethylene-6-pentafluorophenyl-4-phenyl-2H-pyran on chromatography on alkaline Al2O3. The stereoisomerism of the synthesized compounds has been studied by PMR spectroscopy. ©1997 Plenum Publishing Corporation.
