Abstract: The reaction between equimolar amounts of Cd(OH)(2) and octafluorobiphenyl-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid H(2)oFBPDC in methanol at 40 and 70 degrees C has been investigated. Two new metal-organic coordination polymers have been obtained and structurally characterized, namely chain-like [Cd-3(CH3OH)(10)(oFBPDC)(3)]2CH(3)OH (I) and layered [Cd(CH3OH)(3)(oFBPDC)] (II). It is shown that the increase of the temperature of the synthesis leads to the formation of coordination polymer of higher dimensionality with less amount of guest and coordinated solvent molecules.
