Pyrolysis of polyfluoroarenethiols in the presence of chlorine at temperatures of 400-420A degrees C in a flow-through system was used to synthesize chloro- and ortho-dichloropolyfluoroarenes containing perfluorinated chlorotolyl, xylyl, indanyl, and chloropyridyl groups.
