Abstract: At ambient temperature, interaction of the solid radical anion salt [Na(15-crown-5)][C2N4S2] with water vapour unexpectedly leads to the trithionate salt [Na(15-crown-5)](2)[S(SO3)(2)], whose coordination pattern is very different from the previously studied trithionate salts.
