Abstract: A complex ZnLCl2 (L is 2-(3,5-dimethylpyrazol-1-yl)-4-methylquinoline) was synthesized. According to X-ray diffraction data, the Zn2+ ions in mononuclear molecules of the obtained complex coordinate two N atoms of the bidentate chelating ligand L and two Cl atoms. The coordination polyhedron Cl2N2 represents a distorted tetrahedron. In solid state at 300 K, the ligand L exhibits weak photoluminescence in the visible spectral range. The complex ZnLCl2 exhibits bright blue photoluminescence.
