                            Abstract:
                            A series of isomeric bis(nitrophenyl)pyrimidines containing a phenyl substituent in the heteroring were synthesized from nitrochalcones and benzamidines. The corresponding isomeric bis(aminophenyl)-pyrimidines were prepared by reductive acetylation followed by hydrolytic elimination of the acetyl group.
