Abstract: A new paramagnetic compound [Cu(HL)Cl](2)[CuCl4], where HL is optically active (1S,3S,6R)-3-[N-(3-aminopropyl)amino]-4-caranone (E)-oxime, was synthesized. Its crystal and molecular structure was determined by X-ray diffraction. The compound consists of complex cations [Cu(HL)Cl](+) and outer-sphere tetrahedral anions [CuCl4](2-). In the complex cation, the Cu2+, ion coordinates three N atoms (Cu-N 1.967(5)-2.029(5) A) of the tridentate ring-forming ligand HL and one Cl atom (Cu-Cl 2.281(2) angstrom). The coordination core CuN3Cl is a distorted square.
