Trihydrates of Sm(III) trifluoroacetate and pentafluoropropionate and dihydrates of Sm(III) heptafluorobutyrate and nonafluorovalerate were synthesized. Their magnetic properties and IR spectra were studied. Thermolysis of these compounds at 300-380 degrees C yields samarium trifluoride.
