Abstract: This chapter seeks to cover recent developments in the area of electrophilic reactions of polyfluorinated olefins. It contains sections on methods of generation, types and relative reactivity of electrophilic reagents, and reactivity of fluoroolefins. it also summarises recent achievements in generation and characterisation of long-lived polyfluorinated carbocations. The section dealing with electrophilic reactions of fluoroolefins is divided in two parts. The first part covers electrophilic addition reactions of fluoroolefins, e.g., halogenation, oxidative fluorination, addition of hypohalides, nitration, oxidation, addition of sulfur halides, along with alkylation, alkenylation, and acylation reactions and the second part covers processes involving activated C-F bonds in fluoroolefins, such as double bond migration, cleavage of vinyl ethers, and reactions with sulfur trioxide and boron triflate.
