This treatment reviews the experimental data on the kinetics of nucleophilic substitution reactions in the series of polyfluoroaromatic compounds. The reviews discusses the effects of substituent, solvent, and nucleophilic reagent on the rate and orientation of the aromatic nucleophilic substitution, and the additivity problems of the ring fluorine effect on the reactivity of a substrate. The data are discussed on the reactivity of various polyfluoroaromatic compounds, including mono- and bicyclic ones, and of nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compounds.
