Abstract: Perfluorinated 1-methylindenyl, 1-ethylindenyl, 3-methylene-1-indanyl, and 3-ethylidene-1-indanyl cations were generated from the corresponding perfluorinated alkylindenes and alkylideneindans in the system SbF5-SO2ClF. Perfluoroalkylindenyl cations are thermodynamically more stable than isomeric perfluoroalkylideneindanyl cations.
