Abstract: 2-Nitraminopyrimidine and its 5-R derivatives (R = Me, Cl, NO2, Ph, p-O2NC6H4) have been prepared by cyclization of nitroguanidine with 2-methyl-3-dimethylaminoacrolein or bis(dimethylamino)trimethinium salts, and also by nitration of the corresponding aminopyrimidines. By interaction of these nitramino derivatives with hydroxylamine, substituted 2-hydroxyaminopyrimidines have been obtained. ©1998 Plenum Publishing Corporation.
