Abstract: Rate constants of alkaline hydrolysis of methyl esters in six series of substituted pyridinecarboxylates additively correlate with σ-constants of the nitrogen atom in the pyridine ring and of substituents taking into account the transmission factors of their inductive and resonance effects. © 1998 MAHK "Hayka/Interperiodica".
