Di- and triaryl-N-methylpyridinium perchlorates bearing pentafluorophenyl groups have been obtained by reaction of the appropriate pyrylium salts with methylamine. In the case of 4-phenyl-2,6-bis(pentafluorophenyl)pyrylium perchlorate, a stable 2H-pyran intermediate was isolated. © 1992 Plenum Publishing Corporation.
