The series of σ constants of 2-, 3-, and 4-pyridyl groups was calculated on the basis of data from the 1H, 13C, and 19F NMR spectra of isomeric aminophenyl-, phenyl-, and fluorophenylpyridines. The literature a constants and the values found in the research were analyzed. © 1983 Plenum Publishing Corporation.
