Abstract:
The intensive studies carried out on terpenes during the first decade of 20th century led to the preparation of a number of a-hydroxylamino-oximes, as exemplified by the reaction of olefin nitrosochlorides and nitronitrosates with hydroxyzine1'23. The chemistry of a-hydroxylamino-oximes has long remained undeveloped, possibly because of the lack of simple methods for their preparation. Thus, the reaction of a-haloketones with hydroxylamine gave 1.2-diketone dioximes as final prod-ucts4. In the 1960's it was shown that, apart from these products, the reaction gives also a-hydroxylammo-oxirnes5-6, and here after began the systematic work on their synthesis and properties. © 1986 Georg Thieme Verlag.
