                            The one-electron electrochemical oxidation and reduction of N-[bis(4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-3-oxido-1-oxyl-4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazol-2-yl)methylene]-2-methylpropan-2-amine oxide, which is the first representative of a C(sp(2))-coupled nitronyl nitroxide diradical, result in the formation of the corresponding doublet radical cation and radical anion in acetonitrile. The radical ions have been obtained using a combination of electrochemical and EPR techniques and characterized by DFT calculations. (C) 2015 Elsevier Ltd.
