The kinetics of reaction of 3,3',4,4'-benzophenonetetracarboxylic anhydride with pyrimidine-containing diamines and of thermal imidization of the resulting polyamido acids were studied. The base catalysis of imidization of polyamido acids involving pyrimidine ring of the adjacent macromolecule is confirmed.
